Description:
Glabrous climbers; branchlets grooved. Leaves alternate, deeply, palmately 5-lobed, to 10 x 12 cm, chartaceous; lobes elliptic, to 8 x 3.5 cm, entire; petiole to 4 cm, with 2-4 stipitate glands; stipules falcate, 2 x 1 cm, sunentire; tendrils axillary, to 15 cm. Flowers pale blue, solitary, axillary, to 6-8 cm wide; bracts 3, ovate-oblong, to 2 x 1.5 cm; pedicel to 6 cm. Hypanthium shallow. Calyx-lobes 5, oblong, to 2.5 x 1.5 cm, pinkish. Coronal filaments in 4 series: outer two longer (to 6 mm), blue apically, white in the middle and purple at base; inner two shorter (2 mm). Stamens 5; filaments 8 mm. Styles 3, each 1 cm, purple; stigmas 2 lobed. Berry ovoid, 6 x 4 mm; seeds numerous, 4 mm wide.
