  Description: Perennials. Culms 25-130 cm long, creeping or floating, rooting at the lower nodes. Leaves 8-22 x 0.5 - 1.3 cm, lanceolate or linear-lanceolate, base rounded, apex acuminate; sheaths to 12.5 cm long; ligules tuft of hairs. Panicles 8-30 cm long, spiciform; racemes 8-25 in number, 1-3.5 cm long; rachis narrowly winged. Spikelets 2-4 mm long, ovate or elliptic. Lower glume 1-1.5 x 1.5-2 mm, ovate-lanceolate, rounded. Upper glume 2-3 x 1.5-2 mm, ovate, obtuse. Lower floret male. Upper floret bisexual. First lemma 3-3.5 x 1.5-2 mm, elliptic-acute. Palea 2-3 x 1-1.5 mm, broadly elliptic, hyaline, 2-keeled. Stamens 3. Second lemma 2-3 x 1.5-2 mm, elliptic-acute, coriaceous. Palea 2-2.5 x 1-1.5 mm, elliptic-acute, subcoriaceous, 2-keeled. Stamens 3; anthers yellow. Ovary ovate; stigma c. 1 mm long, cream-yellow in colour. Grains c. 1 mm long, ellipsoid.
