  Description: Erect, annual herbs, 15-25 cm high; stem and branches 4-gonous, pubescent and sparsely hispidly hairy with spreading hairs. Leaves 2.5-6.5 x 0.3-1.5 cm, oblong-lanceolate or linear, obtuse, entire or distantly serrulate, pubescent both sides and with scattered hairs on the veins, subsessile or shortly petioled. Flower-whorls upto 2 cm in diam., terminal, solitary, subtended by a whorl of floral leaves, rarely another whorl of flowers develops below the terminal one. Bracts 7-10 mm long, about as long as calyx, linear, rigid, ciliate. Calyx-tube 7-10 mm long, tubular to funnel-shaped, straight or slightly curved, ribbed, pubescent and with scattered long white hairs outside especially near the mouth, pubescent within; mouth suboblique; villi shorter than teeth; teeth 10, 2-4 mm long, subequal, subulate-acicular, ciliate; ribs 10, prominent within rather than outside, in continuation with 10 teeth. Corolla-tube included within the calyx; upper lip bearded with white hairs, shorter than lower. Nutlets ca 3 mm long, oblong, rounded at top, smooth, brown.
