  Description: Armed fleshy shrubs; branchlets 3-5 angular, spines to 1 cm. Cyathia axillary, in lax cymes; bracts 5, 5 mm, ovate; peduncles 1 cm long; involucre cupular, 5 mm long, glands 5, thick, semicircular; male flowers in 5 groups of 4-8 each; stalk 3 mm, female flowers erect; ovary 3 x 4, styles 3. Capsule 1 cm across.
