Description:
Decumbent, silky herb from an erect woody rootstock, covered with sheathing leaf-bases; branchlets pilose. Leaves alternate, orbicular, 2.5 cm wide, 6-9-lobed, margins serrate, pilose above, denser below; petiole 1 cm; stipules adnate to petiole and sheathing; cauline leaves smaller, all plicate in bud. Cymes corymbose, to 6 cm long, axillary; bracts numerous; bracteoles 4-5. Flowers small. Epicalyx present. Calyx-tube campanulate; lobes 4 + 4; disk adnate to calyx, prominent. Petals 0. Stamens 4, inserted on the calyx-rim. Pistil 1, enclosed in calyx; style basal; stigma capitate. Achene 1, enclosed in hard hypanthium.
