  Description: Culms to 60 cm long, nodes glabrous. Leaves ovate-lanceate, 3-6 by 1-1.5 cm, margin tuberculate-ciliate, sheaths lax, compressed; ligule c. 2.5 mm long. Racemes 4-7 cm, joints pilose; sessile spikelet c. 6.5 mm long, glumes unequal, chitinous, lower glume 7-nerved, 2-keeled, upper glume elliptic, 3-nerved, 1-keeled, spiculed; lemmas long ciliate, obscurely 1-nerved, paleate; awn to 1.5 cm long, palea notched at apex, stipe long-pilose.
