Description:
Slender twiners; stems always long, nearly glabrous. Leaves opposite, small, ovate-cordate, apiculate. Flowers small, solitary, on capillary peduncles. Calyx 5-partite, glandular within; lobes ovate or lanceolate. Corolla dark purple, deeply 5-lobed, the lobes slightly overlapping to the right; corona-processes compressed, curved to an acuminate point. Anthers very small with an inflexed tip; pollen masses one in each cell, minute, globose or ovoid, waxy, erect or ascending rarely transverse or pendulous from the ascending pedicel. Ovary of 2 carpels. Follicles usually solitary, 2 inch long, slender, glabrous; seeds flattened, ovoid, margined, ending in a silky coma.
