  Description: Trees, to 7 m high, bark smooth; branchlets glabrous Leaves simple, alternate, estipulate; petiole 6-8 mm, stout, glabrous, grooved above; lamina 7-15 x 3-5 cm, elliptic, elliptic-ovate, elliptic-oblong, base acute, apex acuminate or caudate-acuminate, margin crenulate-serrate, glabrous, glossy, coriaceous; lateral nerves 5-8 pairs, pinnate, slender; intercostae reticulate, slender. Flowers bisexual, white, in short axillary spikes; bracts solitary at the base of each pedicel; bracteoles early cauducous; calyx tube adnate to the ovary, lobes 5; corolla rotate, lobes 5, 3-3.5 mm; stamens numerous; stamens numerous, unequal, many seriate, adnate to the corolla tube; anthers short, ovary inferior, ovules 2-3 in each cell, pendulous from the inner angle. Fruit a drupe, 3 x 1.5 cm, smooth, glabrous, yellow becomes obtusely 5-6 furrowed; seeds 1-3, oblong.
