Description:
Stem, petioles and peduncles violetish. Leaves 8-10 x 2.5-3 cm, elliptic to elliptic-obovate, acute at apex, attenuate at base; veins 8-12 pairs, lopped to form inter marginal vein. Flowers in terminal branched cymes. Bracts 0.3-0.4 cm long, triangular, acuminate. Peduncles stout. Pedicels 0.5-0.6 cm long. Calyx lobes 5, 0.2-0.25 cm long, acuminate. Corolla brown; tube 0.7-0.8 cm long, widened at throat. Coronal lobes 5, 0.8-1 cm long, linear lanceolate. Stamens 5, included; anthers sagittate. Disc 0. Carpels 2, apocarpous; ovules many; style slender, filiform; stigma conical. Follicles stout, 8-10 cm long, 0.2 cm wide, tapering to tip. Seeds many, ovoid, compressed, 0.6-0.8 cm long, tipped with silky coma.
