Description:
Large shrubs, to 4 m high; stems terete, hirsute; branches hairy above. Leaves ca. 16 x 10 cm, ovate-rhomboid, rounded or subcordate at base, crenulate at margin, acute at apex, membranous, villous, lineaolate; secondary veins 5- pairs, turning uwards, parallell; leaves of opposite pair often unequal; petioles ca. 4 cm long, hairy. Inflorescens spikes, axillary, ca. 5 cm long, erect or nodding; bracts leafy, ovate, rounded, concave, ca. 2 cm, ciliate, glabrous; bracteoles linear-oblanceolate, ca. 2 cm, ciliate. Calyx linear-oblong, ca. 2 cm long, divided almost to base, ciliate. Corolla subcampanulate, contracted, subsymmetric, ca. 2.5 cm long, glabrous, pale blue; lobes subequal, orbicular, emarginate, finely blue veined. Stamens 4, subequal; staminal sheath of filaments short, glabrous, truncate; filaments arising from same height, glabrous; anthers sagittate. Ovary on a disc, glabrous; style slender, ca. 2.2 cm long, glabrous.
