Description:
A shrub usually 1-2 m tall, mostly pubescent throughout. Leaves 6-15 cm long and 4-8 cm wide, ovate or oval-oblong, varying to oblong-lanceolate or subcordate-ovate, margins crenate or serrate, apex acute, base narrowed and decurrent into petiole, scabrous above and pubescent beneath. Flowers crimson fading to rose, borne on spikes 30-60 cm long. Fruits (capsules) cylindrical, c.0.6 cm long.
