Description:
Robust, sparsely armed, straggler to climber; branchlets glabrous, terete; prickles recurved, short, scattered. Lower leaves pinnatifid, to 25 x 15 cm, with 2-3 pairs of segments, each to 10 x 6 cm; upper leaves simple, ovate, to 8 x 5 cm, base cordate, apex acuminate. Cymes branched, compact, terminal, to 25 cm wide; pedicels 2 cm. Calyx campanulate, 8 mm; lobes 5, ovate, 5 mm, margin hyaline, apex mucronate. Corolla rotate, lilac, to 6 cm wide, shallowly 5-lobed. Stamens 5; filaments subequal, 3-6 mm, white; anthers to 1 cm connivent around style. Ovary 2-celled.
