Description:
Climbing or scandent shrubs. Leaves opposite, to 13 x 7 cm, ovate-oblong, bluntly acuminate, rounded at base, serrulate; nerves 4-7 pairs; petiole 1.5 cm long; thorns 2.5 cm long, deflexed, alternate. Panicle to 10 x 6 cm, axillary, scarcely branched, alternate with thorn, pubescent. Flowers 2.5 mm across, sessile, bracts and bracteoles similar, ovate; sepals 5, 2 x 1 mm, ovate, connate at base; petals 5, 1 x 0.5 mm, ovate, concave and clawed, greenish white; stamens 5, free; disk annular; ovary 3-celled, ovule one in each cell; style stout; stigma capitate. Drupe 6 mm across, globose, glabrous.
