  Description: Erect herbs to shrubs, strong smelling; stem more or less angled. Leaves alternate, pyramidal or oblong, 3-8 cm long; leaflets subsessile, obovate or elliptic, entire or obscurely crenate at margin, obtuse at apex. Inflorescences dichasial, 6-12 cm across; bracts leafy, lanceolate, narrow at base, entire or crenate, acuminate, 5-7.5 x 2-2.5 mm; pedicels ca 8-10 mm long, glabrous. Flowers 8-10 mm across. Sepals 4, ovate, entire or crenate, ca 4 x 2 mm, green. Petals 4, spatulate, fimbriate, hooded at apex, ca 6 x 4 mm, yellow. Stamens 8 or 10; filaments linear, 5.5-7 mm long, glabrous; anthers ovoid and dorsifixed. Disc 8-10 lobed, ca 1 x 4 mm. Ovary subglobose; carpels 4 or 5, free to middle; ovules 2 or 3 in each locule, collateral; style ca 3.5 mm long; stigma capitate, lobed. Capsules 4 or 5 lobed, 6-8 mm across, 1 or 2 seeded; seeds ca 2 mm long, angled, pitted and brown.
