Description:
Herbs; stems glabrous or hairy along one line. Leaves to 15 x 2.5 cm, elliptic, acuminate at both ends, glabrous; lateral nerves 6-8 pairs. Spikes 1.5-3 x 1.5 cm, oblong, 2-3 together, axillary or terminal, peduncled or sessile; sterile bracts 8 x 2 mm, lanceolate, acuminate, narrow margined; fertile bracts 8 x 4 mm, lanceolate, broadly winged, apiculate, ciliate along margins. Flowers few to several; sepals 5 mm long, linear-lanceolate, acuminate, ciliate; corolla 10 mm long, upper lip entire; lower lip obtusely 3-lobed; lower anthers with globose appendage.
