Description:
A large, buttressed, semi-evergreen tree upto 36 m tall with a broad crown of long drooping branches; bark light brown, finely fissured, inner bark light brown and reddish-brown-streaked, yielding a small amount of red latex when cut. Leaves alternate, imparipinnate, 20-40 cm long; rachis slender, swollen at the base; leaflets 5-11, alternate, thin, shiny green to yellow-green, ovate, 5-10 cm long and 3.8-5 cm wide, apex acuminate with a rounded tip, base rounded or shortly cuneate. Flowers golden yellow, borne in axillary panicles 10-15 cm long; calyx 6 mm long, turbinate, minutely hairy, 5-toothed, teeth short; corolla 1.5 cm long, exserted, petals 5, 1.5-1.8 cm long, stalked at base, becoming crinkled, the standard orbicular or broadly ovate, 1.5 cm wide, rolled backwards, wings and keel petals 2 each. Fruit (pod) orbicular, 4.5-5 cm across, including the broad, thin, rigid wing stalked at the base with a pointd style at one side, indehiscent; seeds 1-2.
