  Description: Succulent herbs, usually epiphytic, stem erect or scandent. Leaves simple, alternate, 8 x 2.5 cm, elliptic-lanceolate, crenate, penninerved, cystolith linear; petiole 3 mm long; lower part of the stem with small orbicular nanophylls. Flowers monoecious, in axils of leaf scars; male flowers in small cymes; female flowers in peduncled receptacle; male perianth lobes 5, free, fleshy; female perianth lobes 3-5, free, fleshy, cucullate; stamens 5; ovary 1-celled, ovoid; ovule 1, basal; stigma sessile, globose. Achenes 1 mm long, ovoid, apiculate, rugose.
