  Description: Shrubs dichotomously branching, branchlets quandrangular when young, terete in age, glabrous, internodes short. Leaves opposite, 2.5-5 x 1.5-2 cm, obovate mucronate, obtuse or retuse at apex, cuneate at base, incurved at margin, coriaceous, glabrous, greenish brown when dry; midrib channelled above, flattened beneath; lateral nerves 5-6 pairs, subparallel, arcuate, slender, reticulation inconspicuous; petioles 5-10 mm long, slender, glabrous; stipules 4-6 x 2-3 mm, ovate, acute, glabrous above. Cymes axillary, sessile. Flowers 7-8 mm long, sessile, 3-4 merous. Hypanthium 1 mm long, obovoid, puberulous; calyx tube 1-1.5 x 1.5-2 mm, puberulous or glabrous above; lobes 1.5-2 mm long, broad ovate-oblong, acute at apex, puberulous or glabrous beneath. Corolla tube 4-5 mm long, glabrous above, villous at throat within; tube 1.5-2 mm long, ovate, puberulous beneath. Stamens inserted; filament adnate below throat, 0.5 mm long; anthers 0.5-1 mm long, oblong. Ovary 0.5 mm long, obovoid, 3 or 4 loculed; style 4-5 mm long, slender, glabrous or finely puberulous above; stigma 3-4 lobed, 0.5 mm long, ovate, obtuse; glabrous; disk 1 mm across, subglobose, smooth. Fruit sessile, ± 5 x 4 mm, ovoid, crowned with persistent calyx lobes, 4 shallow channelled; pericarp thin, glabrous; mesocarp thick; pyrenes 4 or 3, planoconvex, wrinkled, thick walled; seeds 4 mm long, planoconvex.
