Description:
Undershrub, scandent or subscandent, sometimes prostrate; branches obtusely 4-angular, pale; young parts scabrous; nodes annulate; internodes 2-8 cm long. Leaves ovate or suborbicualr, truncate to acute at base, crenulate along margins, obtuse to acute at apex, 2-4.5 x 1.5-3 cm, chartaceous, villous or softly appressed-pubescent on both surfaces; lateral nerves 6-8 pairs, obscure above, distinct beneath; petioles filiform, ca 1 cm long. Spikes axillary, globose or obovoid, ca 1.5 x 1 cm, one per node; peduncles slender, 1.5-3.5 cm long; bracts ovate, acute to acuminate at apex, ca 9 x 6 mm, pubescent outside. Flowers sessile. Calyx cupular, ca 1 x 1 mm, faintly 5-toothed, membranous, ciliate along margins. Corolla hypocrateriform, 2-lipped, 5-lobed, white; upper lip 2-lobed; lobes subrotund; lower lip 3-lobed; midlobe obovate, ca 2 x 1.8 mm; lateral lobes medium, ca 1.5 x 1.5 mm; tube narrow, slightly curved, ca 6 x 2 mm. Stamens 4, didynamous; filaments filiform, 0.7-1 mm long; anthers lanceolate, ca 0.2 mm long, white, basifixed. Ovary globose, ca 0.3 mm; style stout, ca 0.2 mm long; stigma subcapitate. Drupes globose or ovoid, ca 4 x 3 mm, fleshy when mature.
