Description:
Twining undershrubs; branches pubescent. Leaves opposite, up to 12 x 6.5 cm, broadly ovate, acuminate, subcordate, reticulately nerved; petioles pubescent, 2-3 inch. Flowers curious cushion-like, much depressed, in axillary bracteolate cymes. Sepals small, obtuse or acute, lanceolate, acuminate. Corolla discoid, mouth contracted; lobes 5, very short, broad, valvate. Staminal-column arising from the base of the corolla, minute, short, depressed; anthers with short inflexed appendages; pollen-masses very minute, one in each cell, semi-ovate, compressed, inner margin pellucid, sessile, waxy, ascending. Stigma broadly conic, not exceeding the anthers.
