  Description: Shrubs to 1 m tall; young twigs quandrangular, sparsely pubescent. Leaves opposite, 4-16 x 3-5.5 cm, ovate, acuminate at apex, tapering towards base, subcoriaceous, entire glabrous; lateral nerves 8-9 pairs, arching to form an intramarginal vein; petiole 2-5 cm, glandular pubescent above. Flowers in ca 3 cm long, panicles, axillary and terminal, first trichotomously branching and then as unilateral cymes; bracts and bracteoles ca. 1.5 mm long, linear-lanceolate, pubescent. Flowers ca. 1.5 cm long; pedicels 1 mm, pubescent. Calyx lobes 3 mm long, linear-lanceolate, pubescent on both surfaces, glandular outside. Corolla lobes subequal, oblong, obtuse at apex, 2 lower lobes smaller than the upper ones, pubescent. Stamens 2, epipetalous; anthers included, basifixed, oblong, glabrous; filaments pubescent, connectives slightly produced at apex. Ovary, glabrous except for a few glandular hairs towards the apex; ovules about 8 in each cells; styles hairy; stigma simple. Capsule ca. 18 x 2 mm, linear, glandular pubescent towards the apex; seeds about 16 (usually 10-12 seeded by abortion), compressed, glabrous.
