Description:
Glabrous parasitic shrubs; branches stout, terete, brown. Leaves opposite, up to 8 x 3 cm, coriaceous, opposite or alternate, oblong-lanceolate, acute, cuneate at base; the nerves obscure; petioles very short. Flowers in axillary or lateral peduncled umbellate cymes; bracts cup-like but one-sided. Calyx-tube adnate to the ovary, the limb short, truncate or toothed; lobes triangular. Corolla gamopetalous, very straight, erect, scarlet coloured, glabrous without, with very rare exceptions, 2-4 cm long; lobes 5, valvate. Stamens 4; filaments much shorter than the anthers.
