  Description: Robust annuals; stems prostrate, hirsute, elongate, angular, ultimately somewhat terete and glabrous. Leaves alternate, 8-15 cm long and as much broad, 5-angular or moderately 3-7 lobed, lobes, obtuse, suborbicular, denticulate, base cordate, villous or subhirsute; petioles slender, robust, hispid, equal or longer than lamina. Male flowers fasciculate; peduncles slender, 0.5-3.0 cm long; calyx-tube narrow, campanulate, villous, 6-8 mm long; lobes subulate, erect or spreading; corolla ca. 2 cm long, lobes ovate-oblong, acute; staminal filaments very short; anthers 3-4 mm long, appendage of connective shorter than anthers; pistillode ca. 1 mm long. Female flowers: peduncles 1-2 cm long; ovary softly hairy, style 1-2 mm long, stigma connivent, ca 2 mm long. Fruits edible, polymorphous; seeds 10-12 x 5-7 mm, white, oblong, immarginate, apex obtuse, base subacute.
