Description:
Lithophytic herbs. Thallus variable, thread-like or disc-like, attached firmly throughout the length, bearing leafy secondary shoots. Leaves sheathing, distichous. Flowers minute, zygomorphic, bisexual, naked, emerging from a spathe; stamens 20, monadelphous; staminodes 2, linear; ovary superior, oblique, 2-locular; ovules many, on a massive placentae. Capsule nearly globose, splitting into 2 unequal lobes.
