Description:
Woody, climbing or clambering shrubs. Leaves opposite, odd-pinnate, Leaflets c. 11, opposite, to 6 x 4 cm, ovate, acuminate, coarsely and irregularly serrate, glabrous above, sparsely pubescent on veins below, acute to acuminate; petiole and rachis glabrous or with a few cilia near the base of the leaflets. Inflorescence terminal corymbs of with c. 10 flowers; pedicels to 1.7 cm long, subtended by small linear bracts. Calyx tube to 2 cm long, reddish, 5-lobed; lobes 8 x 5-6 mm, acute, glabrous. Corolla red-orange, orange, or yellow, to up to 7 x 2 cm, funnelform, 5-lobed at apex, glabrous; lobes suborbicular, to 2.5 cm across. Stamens 5 (4 + 1), didynamous, included, adnate at contracted portion of corolla tube; longer filaments to 3 cm long, glabrous, pale yellow; anthers 5-6 mm long. Smaller stamen with filament to 1.8 cm long. Ovary superior, 8 mm long, subterete to faintly 6-angled; ovules many on axile placentum; style 4.8 cm long, glabrous, yellow-green; stigma flattened, spatulate, to 3 mm broad., glabrous. Capsules 2-valved, to 15cm long, beaked, woody; seeds winged.
