  English name(s):
  Description: Clustering moderate sized cane; stem to 20 m or more long, with sheaths ca 2.5 cm dia, sheaths green, armed with spines, spines bulbous based, knee present. Leaves to 1.2 m long. Inflorescence flagellate, arising well above the mouth of the sheath. Partial inflorescence 5-6, to 90 cm long. Fruit 2 cm across, spherical or slightly tapers at base; scales deeply channelled, pale yellow, shining.
