Description:
Erect perennial herbs up to 1 m high or even more; stems terete. Leaves alternate, narrow, long, up to 10 x 0.6 cm broad, linear, acute at apex and mucronate-acuminate. Flowers small, in compound umbels; bracts and bracteoles narrow, 3-nerved; peduncles long, with many rays. Calyx-lobes 0. Petals 5, obovate, inflexed, the apex emarginated. Disk broad, flat. Styles short. Fruit laterally compressed, slightly constricted at the commissure; mericarps with usually 3 vittae in the furrows, semi-ellipsoid, 5-ridged; seeds terete, sometimes slightly grooved on the inner face.
