Description:
Perennials. Culms 35-150 cm long, decumbent or creeping and rooting at the lower nodes. Leaves 3-24 x 0.5-1.5 cm, oblong-linear or linear-lanceolate, base rounded, apex acuminate, densely pubescent on both surfaces; sheaths upto 18 cm long, densely pubescent. Racemes 1-7 in number, 3-9 cm long; rhachis flat, ribbon-like. Spikelets 4-5 mm long, broadly elliptic or ovate-elliptic, acute, densely pubescent. Lower glume 2-3 x 2-2.5 mm, ovate, base cordate, apex acute, 9-nerved. Upper glume 4-4.5 x 2.5-3 mm, ovate-elliptic, densely hairy without, 5-nerved. Lower floret male. Upper floret bisexual. First lemma 4-4.5 x 2.5-3 mm, ovate-elliptic, hairy without, 5-nerved. Palea c. 4 x 3 mm, elliptic-lanceolate, delicate, 2-keeled. Stamens 3; anthers 2-2.5 mm long, yellow. Second lemma 3.5-4 x 2-2.5 mm, elliptic-lanceolate, mucronate, crustaceous. Palea c. 3.5 x 2 mm, elliptic-lanceolate, crustaceous, 2-keeled. Stamens 3; anthers 2-2.5 mm long, yellow. Stigma c. 1.5 mm long, plumose, purple.
