  Description: Submerged, acaulescent aquatic herbs. Leaves 6-15 x 0.4-0.6 cm, linear, broader at base, tapering to a long acuminate tip, flaccid. Flowers solitary, bisexual, emergent; pedicel to 18 cm long. Spathe 5-6 cm long, tubular. Sepals 3, 0.8-1 cm long, linear. Petals 3, antisepalous; filaments to 4 mm long; anthers linear. Ovary 4-5 cm long, linear-cylindric, 3-loculed, many-ovuled; stigmas 3, white, 1-1.5 cm long, linear, papillose at the distal end. Capsules to 5 cm long, linear-cylindric. Seeds 1-2 mm long, ellipsoid. tubercled or echinate, with tails at each ends.
