Description:
Lianas; the stems woody below, herbaceous at the tips, with somewhat scattered reddish-brown trichomes either appressed or erect. Leaves alternate, 3.5-12 cm long, ovate, or ovate-lanceoalte, basally obtuse to rounded, apically acute, glabrous or remotely pubescent above, strigose to somewhat pubescent below. Inflorescence in dense pseudo-capitate cymose clusters, the peduncles shorter than the leaves; bracts oblong to oblong-ovate, obtuse or apiculate, pubescent. Pedicels up to 3 mm long, usually shorter. Sepals unequal, the outer 2, 5 mm long, the 3 inner 6-7 mm long, ovate, the apex obtuse, mucronulate, glabrous or remotely appressed pubescent. Corolla lavender, often with an almost white limb, the tube darker, funnel form, 4-5.5 cm long. Fruits baccate, ovoid, apiculate with the persistent style base, 15-20 mm long, yellow, glabrous; seeds 1-3, glabrous.
