Description:
Small delicate herbs, stem 7-12 cm tall, slender or robust. Leaves membranous, sessile or shortly petioled, whorled or in superimposed pairs linear or elliptic-lanceolate, acuminate with often bulbiferous axils. Umbels small, solitary, simple or compound. Calyx small, lobes short broad. Corolla-lobes caudate-acuminate. Stamens 4-5; filaments short; anthers 5, coherent, oblong with long slender beaks opening by pores. Ovary 2-celled; ovules very many on projecting placentas; style filiform; stigma capitellate. Capsule coriaceous or membranous, 2-celled, dehiscing at the apex or by an operculum; seeds minute, angled or compressed.
