Description:
Shrubs, 2-3 m tall. Leaves alternate, 7-15 x 2-3.5 cm, membranous, gland-dotted, crenulate, oblong-lanceolate, acuminate at apex, rounded at base. Flowers few, white, regular, in terminal paniculate umbels; peduncles short, slender, as are the pedicels. Calyx 5-, rarely 4-, free, lobes moderate-sized, acute, overlapping to the right, persistent. Corolla 5, rarely 4 or 6, lobes imbricate in bud. Stamens as many as and opposite to the corolla-lobes; filaments short; anthers acute. Ovary globose; ovules few or many, immersed in a globose placenta; style cylindric; stigma terminal, small. Fruit a globose or subglobose berry; seed globose, hollowed at base.
