Description:
Unarmed trees, to 12 m high; young parts rusty tomentose. Leaves bipinnate, alternate, stipulate; stipules; rachis 5-16 cm long, slender, tomentose, pulvinate; glands at the base on upperside; pinnae 3-12 pairs, opposite, 2.3-6.5 cm, slender, pubescent, gland one half way between each pair of pinnae; leaflets 14-50, sessile, opposite, stipels absent; glands in between each pair of leaflets; lamina 0.6-1 x 0.1 x 0.3-0.4 cm, oblong or oblong-trapezoid, base oblique, apex obtusely acute, mucronate; margin entire, recurved, glabrous above, villous beneath, coriaceous; midrib more or less central, often ascending diagonally, lateral nerves obscure. Flowers bisexual, greenish-white, arranged in 6 flowered globular spike, in terminal panicles 2.5 cm across; calyx campanulate, 1.2 ×1-1.5 mm, golden pubescent, 5 toothed; corolla funnel shaped, 4-7 mm, golden pubescent; lobes ovate to oblong; stamens many, monadelphous at base, 7-10 mm long, exserted; ovary stipitate, pubescent, 1-celled, ovules many; style filiform; stigma minute Fruit a pod, 7-11 cm long, hispid, curved in to circle, orange within, dorsal suture coriaceous; sees 4-12, 5 mm across, black, compressed.
