  Description: Trees, to 20 m high, bark reddish-brown, smooth; blaze dull red; branchlets covered with orange-brown scales with fimbriate margins. Leaves imparipinnate, alternate, estipulate; rachis 10-25 cm long, stout, grooved above, swollen at base, covered with lepidote scales; leaflets 7-9, opposite, estipellate; petiolule 6-11 mm, stout, covered with lepidote scales, grooved above; leaflets 5-11 x 3-4 cm, elliptic-obovate or obovate, base acute or cuneate, apex acute or obtusely acute, margin entire, recurved, coriaceous, foveolate above and scurfy beneath; lateral nerves 9-12 pairs, parallel, prominent, intercostae obscure. Flowers ploygamo-dioecious, yellow, small, in axillary branching panicles; calyx 5 lobed, pubescent, ciliate along margin, imbricate; petals 5, free, ovate, imbricate; stamens 5, included; staminal tube urceolate, margin undulate; anthers 5, obtuse; ovary superior, 1-2-celled, stellate-tomentose, ovules 1-2 in each cell; style very short; stigma simple. Fruit a berry, 2 cm long, subglobose, obovate, densely minutely scaly; seeds 1-2.
