Description:
Shrubs to 1.5 m high; stem glabrous, internode 2.5 to 3 cm long, spines paired at the base of the petiole, straight. Leaves opposite, pinnatifid, c. 7.5 x 2.5 cm, serrations spinous; petiole c. 0.5 cm long. Flowers in terminal c. 3.5 cm long racemes; bract early caduceus; bracteoles 2, c. 8 x 3 mm, lanceolate, acute, puberulous along margins. Calyx lobes 4, unequal; outer 2 c. 1.5 x 1 cm, inner 2 c. 1 x 0.5 cm, pubescent along margins. Corolla tube c. 0.5 cm, lobes c. 3.6 x 3 cm, white, upper lip obsolete, lower lip elongate, obovate, shortly 3 lobed. Stamens 4, didynamous, filaments stout, curved, c. 1.5 cm and 1.3 cm long; anthers 1 celled, bearded, 1 cm long. Ovary 0.5 cm long; style 3.5 cm long, shortly bifid. Capsule ellipsoid and compressed; seeds 4.
